Being There

In July 1996, the FT’s How To Spend It magazine sent me to Paris to cover the haute couture shows. It was my first foray into the world of high fashion. Also on that trip were photographer Gavin Bond and writer Tony Glenville. We sat down recently to to discuss an extraordinary time in fashion and to celebrate the publication of Gavin’s book Being There, which documents that world from an exhilarating backstage perspective. An exhibition of his photographs runs at Hamilton’s gallery in London until November 8th.
